At-home workout guide

  • Find a quiet spot in your home, just enough space for you to lie down. Keep the area clean and well-ventilated; if possible, dedicate it solely to yoga.
  • Wear light, comfortable clothing that makes you feel good, preferably made from natural materials. This clothing should be exclusively for yoga.
  • Practice barefoot or in socks.
  • Use an exercise mat (yoga mat/rug/towel).
  • If needed, provide yourself with a cushion for sitting or lying down.
  • Practice early in the morning or in the early evening.
  • Always practice on an empty stomach, at least two hours after a meal. Do not eat or drink liquids for half an hour after practice.
  • Avoid intense activities after class.
  • Feel satisfaction, make practice a small ritual just for yourself.
  • Try to maintain awareness and presence here and now during the exercises. Feel everything that is happening to you as you do the exercise.
  • Perform the exercises gently, without straining, only as much as is comfortable for you. If you feel any discomfort, stop and try to relax.
  • Relax before and after each exercise.
  • Be aware that yoga is not a sport and do not compete with yourself on how much you can practice. How you practice is more important than how much.
  • Be aware that by practicing, you are doing something good for yourself.
